Melissa Alsip is the owner of Alsip Designs. Her background includes 14 years in the construction industry specializing in tile work, woodworking, and painting. Quite often during installation projects, clients sought her advice on a broad range of home decorating ideas. In 2018, she decided to shift her focus from installation to decorating. She now enjoys working with clients to help them select colors, fabrics, fixtures, and furniture and believes good communication is the key to creating a space that reflects their wants and needs.

Melissa’s years in construction have given her a unique perspective on decorating that allows her to meet the client’s budget and timeline better. She knows what is involved in taking a project from concept to completion and has built a solid network of home service professionals who can help her achieve these goals.

Her love of decorating goes all the way back to childhood. She would spend hours drawing out floor plans for her future dream home and placing furniture in all the rooms, constantly rearranging them as she was inspired by new ideas. Now, the rooms and furniture are real and often get facelifts from wall color, fabric, and décor changes. She loves to use bold colors, whether it is an all-over palette or just a single pop of color against a neutral background.

Some of her personal interests include traveling and photography with her husband. Their photographs can be seen on the walls of their home and are rotated frequently as they take new ones to keep the décor fresh and interesting. Melissa loves being outdoors, and her favorite place to be is on a beach, soaking up the sun and reading a good book.
